PaperBots Gameplay

Animated and rendered on Autodesk Maya, composited and edited on Adobe After Effects.

  • About Project
  • This project was self-directed. As I could create my own brief, I was able to work on something I was passionate with while fully stretching the myriad of skills I leant throughout my time at University. During this project, I was most interested in further fleshing out my skills within Autodesk Maya. Going into this project, I set myself some anchors. I wanted my project to be for children and to be a mobile experience. As I was producing an outcome for a younger demographic, I decided that having the game educative would be most suitable. I, however, didn't want this to be the standout focus, but instead more of a Trojan horse as to not put the children off.
  • Project Brief
  • Deciding to focus on programming was mostly due to my personal interests, however, I found it also lent itself to more exciting potential outcomes. There are countless of already successful programming games targeted towards the same audience, such as Scratch or The Human Resource Machine. Almost all of these games, however, take the same approach to visualise programming. I wanted to take this as a design challenge for creating a new and different way in visualising and engaging children within the programming, all while packaged inside an addictive game that everyone could get involved with.
